The difference between the HP ProCurve 2650 and 2650-PWR, is Power Over Ethernet (PoE). PoE capable switches offer major advantages since they can power your phones and other 802.3af compliant devices. Although a bit more expensive, the 2650-PWR is much more efficient and convenient since the RJ-45 (Ethernet) has dual roles. The HP ProCurve 2650-PWR is a 50 port (10/100) switch with two of those ports being dual personality ports. The dual personality ports of the HP 2650-PWR offer Ethernet or SFP+ with Gigabit (10/100/1000) speeds for uplinking. Additional features of this managed HP ProCurve switch include Layer 2 and rack mountable capabilities.
